We are very excited to know that there are so many young filmmakers eager to have fun making movies this summer! As a result our Film School on Wednesday 30 July is now fully subscribed. In order to minimise disappointment we have created a new opportunity for filmmakers aged 7 - 12 (guide) to come along for one day on Tuesday 29 July. Ticket price is again £25 - start time 10am and finish at 4pm. The workshop will take place at Sea City Museum in Southampton. Special Summer Film School Treat! Everyone attending Level 1 Summer Film School is invited to come along, with one other, to our screening of The King and the Mockingbird on Sunday 10 August in the amazing Nuffield Playing Field theatre space which has popped up in Guildhall Square for the Art at the Heart Summer Festival, 2 - 17 August. The King and the Mockingbird is absolute royalty when it comes to animated film! It is widely considered one of the best animated features of all time, and certainly a masterpiece of French animation, the Prix Louis Delluc-winning The King and the Mockingbird (Le Roi et l’Oiseau) has been cited by Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata as a profound influence on their work (an influence most notable in Miyazaki’s The Castle of Cagliostro, as in both films a castle stretches up to the sky). This project is supported by Film Hub South East with National Lottery funds distributed by the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN) Go to 2014 Summer Screenings for full details of all the movies showing and for a link to the whole exciting progamme. |
