The 1st
Southampton Film Week[end] - Screening Green
25-26 March 2022

Following on from SFW21, and with ongoing support from the BFI through Film Hub South West, we were able to keep the momentum rolling with our very first Southampton Film Week[end]!

Screening Green, a two day festival of environmental filmmaking, launched on the 25th of March, and offered a unique programme of films showcasing the very best in environmentally focused international cinema.

Ranging from once-in-a-lifetime documentary screenings, to Oscar nominated drama, and animated modern classics, our stunning two day festival presented an unmissable opportunity for everyone to engage with, and be inspired by some of the best environmental films ever made!

It's back, it's live and in-person!

In 2021, SFW offered another rich programme of films and events which showcased film and filmmaking from across the globe and included the work of many regional filmmakers and artists.
It was a joy to once again welcome audiences in-person to screenings, workshops, discussions, and networking events.

The 13th annual
Southampton Film Week
6 - 15 November 2020

The one you enjoyed from your sofa!
This was the year after all; so much was restricted and with lockdowns and stresses for us all we moved what we could on line - and still had some fabulous films, events, talks and audiences!  To enrich the programme of features and shorts we collaborated with Amplify on-line festival too and were able to link you to the wider world through the combined programme.
If we ever need to again, we can, we will - but we do really enjoy seeing you all in person!

Southampton Film Week 2016 - Where did it take you?
SFW16 brought another great mix of films, workshops, events and competitions for filmmakers and film lovers.
Opening on 4 November with the English Premiere of Songs for Madagascar, attended by the filmmakers and special guests, we followed with a further 9 film-focused days culminating on Sunday 13 November with the now traditional screening and awards finale. There you found the achievements of our young Film School attendees, the triumphs of the Exposure 48 Hour Challenge and of course a screening of the full SFW: Shorts shortlist and announcement of the winners of the Michael Fuller Award for Best Film, the Regional Filmmaker and Audience Awards.
We were delighted to see the SFW: Youth Film Festival flourishing last year led by its own team of young people who programmed and planned events and workshops throughout the week, do check the Youth FF page to see some of their work.

As ever, SFW and its organisers at City Eye are immensely grateful for the generous support of its partner venues, sponsors and of course all the filmmakers who come to support and screen - THANK YOU!

However you were involved - whether for a film screening or taking part in a competition - we would love to know what you think. You can use the comments form on the Contact Us page, drop us an email, tweet us or send us a facebook message.
