The Last Bit of the Moon
City Eye are working with Opera Up Close to create a 15 minute filmed prologue to Vaughn Williams' Riders to the Sea. The film is to be integrated into the touring production through the use of projection. |

Campaign Video for Satvir Kaur
In June 2024 we were approached by Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Southampton Test, Satvir Kaur, to create a campaign video in the run up to the general election. Satvir was keen to work with us as we are a Southampton-based film organisation. Watch here. |
SO Stage Door
SO Stage Door is an Arts Council funded programme for the Southampton community run by The Stage Door, supporting local artists to showcase original work. City Eye is documenting each performance and the films can be enjoyed here. |
Piece
Our delivery of the BFI Film Academy Short Course 2023-24 culminated in 'Piece' a short film created by the students. It tells the story of Max (Scarlett Rayner), a wannabe graffiti artist. View IMDB. |
Drag 'N' Drop!
Written and performed by non-binary/trans writer, performer and musician Ri Baroche, Drag ‘n’ Drop! was developed with support from Arts Council England. City Eye recorded the show at The Lighthouse, Poole. |
What's Next Southampton?
City Eye produced a short film documenting ‘What’s Next Southampton?’ a free festival celebrating arts, fashion and music in Southampton’s Cultural Quarter on June 24. It was created by the SCEP and their group of young ‘Cultural Connectors’ who worked hard to pull off such an ambitious event. The festival also enabled cultural organisations to engage with a wide variety of activities. City Eye provided a stop motion animation and sound recording experience which were a big hit with children, young people and their families. |
Better Lives Through Culture
We worked with Southampton Cultural Education Partnership to document their 'Better Lives Through Culture' project (in collaboration with Artswork) which brought creative mentors, artists, schools and young people together to strengthen links to industry and enrich their lives through education and culture. SCEP members range from small to large-scale creative, cultural and heritage organisations, schools, colleges and universities to youth-focused charities and local authority youth services. |
BA (Hons) Acting & Performance Showcase
Students from Solent University were given the chance to have their monologue, duologue or music performance filmed and collated into a showcase. |
Bijan Moosavi: GHT.2058: Asylo-Jannat
We worked with God's House Tower and artist Bijan Moosavi to produce a video documentary about his exhibition, GHT.2058: Asylo-جنّت. Part of 'a space arts' Art for Climate Action Programme, this immersive exhibition submerges the viewer in a fictional near-future climate dystopia created by neoliberal negligence and greed. Comprised of various materials and media hinting at climate catastrophes, science fiction dystopias, marketing overhype and Islamic Kitsch. On display at GHT from June 24 until August 13. |
One Million to Stop the Traffik
We filmed One Million to Stop the Traffik, written by Mark Wheeller, adapted by Charlie Wheeller and performed by Mayflower Youth Theatre which intertwines stories from victims of human trafficking while following the plight of those trying to help them. Through ensemble movement, song and verbatim extracts we fall witness to their fight to 'stop the traffik.' |
Amies and Clements
Stephanie Jayne Amies & Teddy Clements asked us to document their project, supported with ACE project funding, to integrate choirs from across the region (Fareham, Southampton, Romsey, Lee-on-the-Solent and Eastleigh) into a new musical. Over a period of months, members of community choirs rehearsed and were joined by professional actors for a scratch performance of 'Sing Your Pain Away' (working title) which we filmed in front of a live audience. |
Material Distance
Artist Anne Tallentire's 'Material Distance' ran from 8 October 2022 – 14 January 2023 in John Hansard Gallery. The exhibition challenged visitors to think again about the spaces and environment that we inhabit. We had the pleasure of producing a film that documented the deconstruction of Anne's work, which in itself continued Tallentire's preoccupation with documenting the actions of both herself and others as well as observing learned social behaviours. |
Tilted Wig Productions
Devon-based theatre company, Tilted Wig productions asked us to record a rehearsed reading of their new play 'the Spitfire Girls,' and create a film to promote it. Pictured is Katherine Senior, playwright and co-founder of TWP, the author of this new story about two sisters who join the Air Transport Auxiliary during the second world war. |
Rap and Literacy (Co-Creating a Creative Curriculum)
This project was initiated by Southampton Music Hub to engage pupils from three Southampton primary schools between May '21 and December '22 in a year-long programme of music and literacy. City Eye produced a film to document this project which was then shown to the organisations who took part, as well as regional education and cultural partners, and Arts Council England, at a shared learning and celebration event in January '23. |
Southampton Pride 2022
27 August 2022 saw Southampton's cultural quarter hosting the biggest Pride party! From the Parade starting at Queen's Park through to headline acts closing the Guildhall Square mainstage, Southampton Pride brought together people from far and wide to celebrate and promote the Pride message. It was a joy to document the day. |

Turner Sims Piano Circle
Turner Sims has a national reputation for the quality of classical pianists that perform there. This City Eye production launched the Turner Sims Piano Circle, a membership program, in which people can explore, support and grow their pianist community, all the while having the opportunities to listen to some of the greatest pianists of our day perform at Turner Sims. |

John Hansard Gallery invited 12 University of Southampton students from 12 countries into the gallery to respond to Gerhard Richter's '48 Portraits', presenting a figure from their home countries who they would put forward as a 49th Portrait. This film was produced by City Eye. |

City Eye documented their experience, through rehearsals and performances; telling their stories through this short project documentary. |
New Dimensions - Songs for Wild Horses
In June 2015 City Eye began a new collaboration with New Dimensions, the Hampshire-wide music initiative led by Anvil Arts and Turner Sims. Delivering projects in specific locations, New Dimensions works with composers and musicians to commission new music which involves local people and celebrates communities. |
