Get Networked: Film Industry Networking for South Coast Filmmakers
As part of a series of events led by Making Waves Film Festival, on Tuesday 3 May City Eye hosted a filmmakers' networking event focused on the film industry in the region.
At the time, the Solent Region sat at a crossroads. The sheer intensity of the creative industries in the area was already driving the growth of jobs and graduate opportunities. Meanwhile, the scale of investment in film and high-budget television production around the west of London, an area geographically adjacent to Solent, was soon to result in the development of the largest production base in Europe. The event was joined by guest speaker Dominique Unsworth MBE, from Resource Productions in Slough. Dominique challenged attendees to consider how to seize the opportunities around the development of the emerging West London HETV production base, while continuing to diversify the labour pool and ensuring that the production sector celebrated diversity and inclusivity. Get Networked ran from 6pm – 8pm on Tuesday 3 May at City Eye. The event was free to attend. Dominique set up Resource Productions as a social enterprise in 1999 with a mission to affect social change through film and art, while diversifying the creative industries. Her clients and partners included Pinewood Studios, Channel 4, BBC, Arts Council England, and the BFI. She worked across the sector with community groups, cultural organisations, diverse artists & filmmakers, and young people to produce films and deliver creative training. |
