The City Eye Film Network will kick off its second year with a screening of short film, 'Frequency' which has just won Best Film at Solent University's Film & Media Awards. This will be followed by a filmmaker Q&A giving network attendees the opportunity to engage with local emerging talent based right here in Southampton. "Keep walking Riley..." 'Frequency' is a psychological thriller written & directed by Zsófia Bujáki and produced by Peter Andráš (LadyBug Productions). It tells the story of a young girl with a vivid imagination who is drawn to the woods in the dead of night. What she discovers will change her life forever. The screening of 'Frequency' is prudent as Southampton Film Week's short film competition, SFW: Shorts opens for submission on June 13 and for the first time, is open to films up to 15 minutes in duration. Not only this, but filmmakers will be able to submit to the new Music Video category. Associate Professor, Head of the Southampton Film & Television School and Chair of City Eye's Board of Trustees, Darren Kerr will be present to talk about the launch of 2023's SFW: Shorts and its Regional Filmmaker award. The sixteenth annual Southampton Film Week will take place 10-19 November and will offer a wide variety of training, workshops and seminars as well as a programme of short and feature films. It's shorts competition, SFW: Shorts, is designed to showcase the very best of local and international filmmakers. Early bird for submissions opens this coming Tuesday on Film Freeway. We can't wait to welcome you to the network this coming Tuesday 13 June. 7pm-9pm. Book here for free. |
