City Eye exists to inspire and promote film and digital culture in the region.
Based in Southampton, we are here to support the community, arts organisations, individuals, emerging talent and established talent in the achievement of their filmmaking and digital goals. We achieve this through a wide range of projects and activities including our production work, our education offering and our screening programmes including Southampton Film Week.

City Eye began its journey as Southampton Film and Video Co-operative in April 1986. In 2016 we marked 0ur 30th anniversary with the commencement of a project to retrace our history, re-engaging with some of the people and projects which have taken place across three decades. The project is on-going but a glimpse of the archive and new interviews with some of those involved, was screened as The City Eye Story at events to celebrate the opening of Studio 144, Southampton's new arts centre, in February 2018. City Eye is now located at Studio 144, continuing in its efforts to become fully operational in the building. We look forward to launching our programme of training, production and screening events, collaborating with and offering support to organisations, artists and filmmakers and becoming a new centre for digital media in the region. The developing online version of our archive will go live to celebrate this milestone.
In 2021 and beyond we remain true to our original mission - a dedication to 'making and screening film and video', 'training workshops and educational events' and 'regular meetings to enable discussion and exchange ideas'. The format of these activities may have changed over almost 35 years, but the spirit lives on.
