Chairperson RecruitmentCity Eye is a registered charity, governed by a board of volunteer Trustees. Trustees are individuals passionate about supporting the work of City Eye and are ultimately responsible for ensuring that the charity does what it was set up to do – that City Eye achieves its charitable objectives.
We are currently looking to expand and diversify our Board of Trustees and would love to hear from anyone who might be interested in joining us. Information about joining City Eye as a Trustee can be found here. We are also looking for an experienced Chair to lead the Trustees and the organisation into the next stage of its development. This is an exciting opportunity to support City Eye and to help ensure an ambitious, thriving and resilient organisation greets the future. |
Who we are
We are an independent charity that inspires and supports individuals and communities to experience and be changed by film
This is an exciting time to join our board. City Eye is a small but resilient organisation, based at Studio 144 at the heart of Southampton’s cultural quarter. We are at a transformational time in our existence, looking to grow capacity and activity. Currently we are supported by five trustees - non-executive Directors of City Eye Ltd. It is critical that we grow this group to ensure resilience and robust governance moving forward.
Inspire
For over thirty five years City Eye has championed and encouraged those working, playing and experimenting with film in Southampton and its surrounding region. We offer professional development, support, training, screening events and networking opportunities to people working in the industry and those that aspire to. We recognise the difficulties and discrimination individuals and communities can face. City Eye strives to actively challenge these through our work and our approach. This is our past and our future.

Collaborate |
We believe film experiences should be enjoyed by everyone and we enable this through a year-round programme of open access events. We work on specific projects with individuals, schools, arts organisations, youth services, health providers, community groups and charities. We support people to achieve their filmmaking and digital goals whatever they may be. We are committed to ensuring that anyone can access our activities and facilities without barriers or discrimination.
|
Create
We are documentary makers, story tellers, animators, artists. We work with individuals, organisations and communities to explore ideas and experiences, and we share these through film and digital technology. We make films to meet the needs of the people we are working with; responding to specific briefs or more fluidly developing an approach in collaboration with our clients. We engage with some groups in an immersive way; facilitating the creation of moving image that resonates with the community to which it belongs.
|
Celebrate |
At City Eye, we love film. We are dedicated to the promotion and development of film and digital culture in the region. We run a programme of film events throughout the year and we present an annual festival which is packed full of screenings, talks, workshops and competitions. We also celebrate, through all our work, the transformational process of filmmaking; the learning and development of the individuals we work with, their participation and personal achievement.
