So what's involved?
Over several weeks, successful applicants will attend a series of intensive workshops and masterclasses to hone pre-existing skills and adopt new ones. The aim of the course is to upskill each student so that they can operate competently on a film set. Opportunities include the chance to experience a Virtual Production Studio, akin to ‘the Volume’ used on Lucasfilm and Disney’s ‘The Mandalorian.’ They will also have a chance to watch and analyse a selection of independent films to inform their own production.
Here are some of the highlights:
• Masterclasses from industry experts
• Virtual Production Studio visit
• Pre-Production planning & previsualisation
• Camera training (cine & DSLR)
• On-set etiquette, language and hierarchy
• Short film production from inception to exhibition
• Production and post-production audio skills
• Editing with Adobe Premiere Pro
• LUTS & basic colour grading with Da Vinci Resolve
• Film study and review
• Festival & Film Exhibition
By the end of the course, the group will have crafted a short film which will be screened at a red-carpet premiere for friends and family, and individually will have worked towards their Silver Arts Award.
