Your Planet Needs You

As part of its Community Takeover, John Hansard Gallery, invited us to run workshops in stop motion.

John Hansard Gallery's Community Takeover in 2022 hosts a range of vibrant, creative responses to themes exploring the environment, sustainability and wellbeing. Following on from Southampton Film Week[end] - Screening Green, our own environmentally focused film festival, City Eye was delighted to work with two groups of young people to consider our relationship with and responsbility for the planet.

Presented with a pile of materials for recycling, and the prunings from a garden participants created the set and characters for this story of the planet's recovery when shown a little love.  They worked with City Eye and John Hansard Gallery crew to bring everything to life and painstakingly photograph the story.

We hope you enjoy their efforts and heed their message! We wish you Happy Earth Day and joy in your planet every day!

We were thrilled to premiere this short film at City Eye on 22 April in celebration of Earth Day.  The film will screen in Gallery 1 at John Hansard Gallery as part of  Community Takeover until 13 May.
