What is DV Mission?
DV Mission is a 48 Hour Film Challenge that celebrates the very best in low-budget filmmaking. Each year, participants are given a fresh set of “obstructions”—a genre, title, and line of dialogue that must be incorporated—leading to a night of unpredictable and exciting films showcased at the festival’s screening and awards ceremony. The Legend...
DV Mission was created in 2005 by Jinx Prowse who ran the competition for 10 years until handing over to Dr. Roy Hanney in 2015. City Eye took the reigns in 2025, led by Executive Director Susan Beckett & Head of Production Aaron West - both of whom have been deeply involved with the competition over the years. Susan assisted in the organisation of the very first DV Mission while Aaron's first entry was in 2013 with the group 'Truth at 88MPH.' Over the last 20 years, the following film genres have featured as obstructions, creating bold, inspiring and often challenging films unique to DV Mission:
