The Bargate, Above Bar Street
As part of Southampton’s celebration of the launch of the Cultural Olympiad.
The Bargate, ancient entrance to Southampton’s Old Town, was the focus for that evening’s events. The Mayor switched on special lighting to reflect the Cultural Olympiad colours. Included within the event was wonderful archive film from Wessex Film and Sound Archive which transported you back to a time when trams took you on the journey from the waterfront to Northern Above Bar.
