CITY EYE SPECIAL EVENT
5th September 2007 8pm @ Swaythling Neighbourhood Centre

Earlier this year 6 people joined the City Eye Digital Filmmaking Course. Alongside a series of focused skills based training sessions the group also made a short film - and learned and laughed a lot along the way! The resultant short, Death with Dignity, will receive its premiere screening at City Eye on Wednesday 5 September. This somewhat irreverent comedy about death and cut price funerals was written, shot and edited by students of the course with support from City Eye by way of the Course Leader, Antony Batchelor and Creative Director, David White. The film was resourced using City Eye equipment and facilities. The screening event is open to all and we hope that in particular anyone interested in joining a future Digital Filmmaking Course (the next course starts on 15 September) will come along to find out more about City Eye, about the course and to grab the opportunity to talk to the filmmakers and recent graduates of the last course. This is a free event (and we might just throw in a beverage or two!) but please contact us to book your place as space is limited.

SCREENING EVENT
City Eye is happy to support this unique one-off screening of Alan Brigand's 11'09"01. This film has not received a release date in the US and the UK so here is your chance to see this remarkable film.11'09"01 was shot on a shoestring budget and against near-impossible odds and was cinema's first direct response to the events of September 11 2001. A French television director, Alain Brigand, had the idea the day after the attacks: 11 film-makers from 11 countries, 11 short films each lasting 11 minutes, nine seconds and one frame. Television, he felt, was altogether too reductive a medium for this moment. The films were to be identical in length; they were to be co-produced with a local company. They would have to be finished in time for a first anniversary release; delivered in the same technical format, to ensure a coherent end-product; and cost the same whether shot in Burkina-Faso or New York.

Taken from Thursday September 5, 2002 The Guardian It will be shown at 7pm at The Friends Meeting House, Ordinance Road in Southampton and the promoters ask only a £1.50 donation towards the cost of putting on this event.
