Dunkirk - 35mm screenings at Harbour Lights

7/7/2017

If you're nostalgic for the pre-digital era - or if this is something you've only heard rumour of - then a rare treat is in store!  Harbour Lights, Picturehouse are bringing out their 35mm projector this summer for the release of Christopher Nolan's latest film 'Dunkirk'.

We urge you to get along and enjoy the 35 mm projection (as the Director would prefer you to see it) - and celebrate a film that used locations along the south coast from Weymouth to Lee-on-Solent.

Dunkirk
Director: Christopher Nolan.
Starring: Fionn Whitehead, Harry Styles, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, Tom Hardy. Netherlands/UK/France/USA 2017. TBC mins.

The mass evacuation of more than 330,000 Allied troops from the beaches of Dunkirk in May 1940 was one of the most dramatic and pivotal episodes of the Second World War. In his latest feature, director Christopher Nolan (Interstellar, The Dark Knight trilogy) plunges viewers into the thick of it with what he describes as “the most visceral experiential two hours that audiences can hope for”.

Told from three points of view – land, sea and air – Dunkirk unfolds with a palpable sense of dread and tension, evoking the very human and immediate desire to survive.

With cinematography from Hoyte van Hoytema (Interstellar), a score from Hans Zimmer, and an all-star supporting cast that includes Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy and Mark Rylance, this is the must-see spectacle of the summer.
