SAFER STUDENTS

In September 2006, City Eye completed work on a twenty minute info-drama for Hampshire Constabulary. The film was designed to highlight potential safety issues for new students arriving at University.

Produced over two intensive months of writing, filming and post production, Safer Students uses humour and melodrama to get it's key messages across.

The DVD, which was produced by City Eye, has been jointly funded by Hampshire Constabulary, the University of Southampton, Southampton Solent University, Portsmouth University, and the Drinkaware Trust, and has already received exceptional feedback from Freshers who have seen it.

“Safer Students” will continue to be shown in universities across the county over the coming weeks, and may even be extended to sixth-form colleges and universities in other counties in due course.

Sarah Steege, Crime Prevention Officer at Southampton police said: “The 20 minute DVD is designed to highlight some of the vulnerabilities to crime that students face during their time at university.

“By raising awareness of issues, and by providing key crime prevention messages in a way that students will enjoy, we will hopefully encourage more people to think carefully about how they go about their day-to-day lives, and reduce the chance of them becoming victims of crime.” -taken from Hampshire Constabulary Press Release
