DON'T KNOW WHAT'S COMING

The Project:
To work with four young people (known as HYPE) who are connected to the NSPCC in Southampton, to produce a video based around the theme of domestic violence.

The young people worked with a drama teacher and two musicians to create the content of the video. It was decided that a pop video would be made and the young people wrote the basic storyline and lyrics for the song. They then worked closely with the drama teacher and musicians to create the music which they would later record and sing on.

City Eye was brought in to turn their storyline into a workable video. As the young people were also going to be performing there was no need to cast the video. Two days of shoot were set aside, one for interiors and one for exteriors. The shoot went smoothly enough considering it was shot on one of the hottest day, if not the hottest day of 2003. City Eye then took the raw footage and over the next two weeks shaped it into the finished video that last 10 minutes.

Life Beyond the Project:
The project was made not only to highlight the young people's thoughts about domestic violence it was also produce to be shown at a NSPCC Young Persons Conference in Oct 2003. The resulting show was a Huge success with the video being prasied for tackling a tough subject in an assessible way. The video has gone on to used by many schools and youth groups in the Southampton region.

The final video has also been placed on the national NSPCC's website so if you would like to see it follow the link below: http://www.nspcc.org.uk
