Over recent months we have been contacted by different agencies interested
in understanding better the provision and activity of film and media
individuals and organisations in the region. We are ourselves also eager
to map and better understand the region's film and media resources.
The
reasons for this, for all parties, are to inform and guide our activities,
the provision of services and investment decisions - whether it's SHAPe
in Southampton, Screen South across the South East region, amh on behalf
of the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) or City Eye itself.
In
SHAPe (Southampton Heritage and Arts People) we recognise that activity
to develop and promote arts and heritage in Southampton should fully
take into account existing activity and provision. The film and media
sector is perhaps the least 'mapped' since it incorporates such a diverse
range of work and business structures - from the individual working
at home to our large production and broadcast companies.
For
those in the PUSH growth area (http://www.push.gov.uk/
), information will be passed on to amh. amh (a Hampshire based research
and audience development agency) are mapping cultural deliverers in
the PUSH region for PUSH's Creative and Cultural Theme Group (PCCTG
). The culture map will be used by the PCCTG to inform future cultural
strategy in the growth area as well as identify deliverers for existing
and future work.
