Green department store.&nbsp; T [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="paragraph">To coincide with John Hansard Gallery&rsquo;s opening of Embodied Memories in the new John Hansard Gallery Central, City Eye is delighted to launch Memories of Tyrrell and Green.&nbsp; The film, shot and edited by Sam Taylor whilst working as Production Graduate at City Eye, documents early stages of the project and gives insight to some of the stories and memories shared by former staff and customers of Southampton&rsquo;s old Tyrrell &amp; Green department store.&nbsp; These recollections have inspired the startling works now created by artist Jennifer Anyan in Embodied Memories.<br /><span></span><br /><span></span>Embodied Memories was commissioned by the John Hansard Gallery and developed with City Eye through Art at the Heart, a partnership of key arts organisations in Southampton working to bring the city&rsquo;s emerging cultural quarter to life. &nbsp;The springboard for this commission has been Southampton City Council's plans to transform the old Tyrrell &amp; The festival will be an&nbsp;excellent&nbsp;opportunity&nbsp;for local filmmakers to meet with people who share their interest and a great chance to exhibit work and maybe even win a membership to the BFI or Shooting People.<br /><span></span><br /><span></span>This year&rsquo;s festival will be taking place at the Eastleigh AMF Bowling Center and&nbsp;will screen a great range of first-time film work. Films will be divided into 5 categories and we will be awarding Shooting People memberships to the best in each. Winning films will be screened in front of the crowds in venues during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London in 2012.<br><br>The competition is accompanied by a UK-wide programme of workshops to provide extra help to young people to begin making films, develop their skills and meet other people to share ideas and develop projects.&nbsp;<br></div></div></div>  ]]></content:encoded></item></channel></rss>
