iFeatures 2, funded by Creative England, BBC Films, BFi and Skillset is the follow up to the successful iFeatures low budget feature film scheme. The new scheme is even bigger than the first – organisers are offering emerging film talent the chance to develop their idea to full script, with the chance to make one of three feature films with budgets of £350K each. On Tuesday, March 27, you can attend a special event in Brighton to find out more about the initiative and speak to the iFeatures2 team. It's a chance for people to ask us questions directly, and perhaps a chance for you to meet potential collaborators for your submission. Tristan Goligher, the scheme's executive producer (and also producer of the low budget film Weekend) will be hosting the event. Guests will include Tracy Brimm and Kate Myers, producers of Skeletons and the upcoming Grabbers. Chris Moll, architect of iFeatures and Head Of Talent at Creative England, will also be on hand with other members of the talent team to talk about Creative England's future plans and to chat to filmmakers.

The Development Fund is open to individual writers, writer/directors and/or producers based in the English regions for the development of all types of feature films, including animation and documentary. Applications are also invited from writer/director/producer teams. Funding is available for the costs of developing a screenplay (or the equivalent for documentaries) such as research costs, writer’s fees, script editor/developer support and script readings.

The Film Networks Fund is open to networks and organisations whose work supports and promotes filmmaking activities in the English regions. Funding is available for a range of eligible activity including provision of editorial and technical support for emerging talent looking to produce work, delivery of networking, screening and industry speaker events and master classes, and provision of peer-to-peer support, mentoring, training and advice.

16mm films for live film score event Making Tracks
11 November 2011 – London

Whirlygig Cinema is looking for films to show at Making Tracks, a regular
event that fuses a programme of short films with new scores performed live
by The Cabinet of Living Cinema. The next event will take place on Saturday
14th January 2012 at Rich Mix, Bethnal Green in East London and will form
part of London Short Film Festival.

Making Tracks brings together a diverse collection of filmmaking talent
including animation, music videos, abstract and experimental video. The
original soundtracks of these films are replaced or enhanced by new scores
and the event gives filmmakers, especially students, who have had problems
with music copyright the chance to show their work in public.

To tie in with the London Short Film Festival’s ‘celluloid film’ theme, Whirlygig
Cinema is collaborating with The Suitcase Cinema to screen 16mm films
using a 16mm projector. They are looking for films that already exist as a
16mm print, but also encourage filmmakers to create new films from old
print. A telecined version of the film for viewing on a computer is desirable
but not essential.

A digital projector will also be available, so films made digitally are welcome,
as are super 8 and 16mm films that have been telecined.
Films should be no longer than 12 minutes and contain little or no audio
dialogue. Voiceover narration is accepted, as long as it can be separated
from the rest of the soundtrack.

This session is aimed at Producers, Directors and Writers who are serious about further professional progression for themselves and their projects within the film industry.

What does it mean when they talk about development - What’s actually included in that? How and when does finance fit in? How do you know when the project is ready to go to market, who and where is the market? Where do I start, who do I need to help me? How do I know the value of what I have? You all know that this list of questions goes on and on … This session is designed to answer these and many other questions!

Jane Wright - Producer
Jane Wright has almost 30 years experience in the feature film business, spanning distribution, production and financing. Much of that time has been spent at the BBC where she was Managing Director of BBC Films, Vice President of Co-Productions & Sales for BBC Worldwide Americas. BBC Films as Head of Business Development I for BBC Films specialising in raising co-production finance. Seconded to International film distributor The Sales Company as interim C.E.O. During this period she commissioned Gurinder Chadha’s Bend It Like Beckham and sold Danis Tanovic’s No Man's Land which went on to win the Academy Award Best Foreign Film. West Is West, the sequel to East Is East, Scott Hicks's The Boys Are Back and Stephen Poliakoff's Glorious 39. She developed a strong reputation for her work with independent producers in helping them to create and execute finance strategies for their films and in securing third party financing and distribution. Accordingly, she was honoured with a Women In Film Award in 2007 for being an "Unsung Hero".

Nicki Parfitt, - Partner Lee and Thompson (Media Law company)
Previous experience: Head of Legal and Business Affairs for Pearson Television Productions in continental Europe and Latin America. There Nicki developed expertise in setting up and managing long running drama serials and game shows in a number of different countries, including Scandinavia, Italy and Spain.   Head of Legal and Business affairs for Portman Entertainment Group established itself as a prominent packager, executive producer and sales agent of international feature films and television drama programming and enabled the financing, production and distribution of high profile UK and international productions and co-productions, including the feature films Saving Grace and Bloody Sunday.

Aged 16-25 years and interested in filmmaking? If this answer is yes, then read on!To celebrate Ken Loach’s 75th birthday, the BFI, First Light, Film Club and Film Education are launching a competition for young creators, inspired by the work of Ken Loach.

From all time classics Kes, Land and Freedom and Sweet Sixteen to more recent releases such as The Wind that Shakes the Barley and Route Irish, Ken Loach’s films challenge and provoke audiences to think differently about the world we all live in. Between the Lines will pick up this challenge by charging entrants to champion alternative stories and characters that confront mainstream ideologies and kick at the heels of the establishment.

Filmmaking ChallengeThe Between the Lines Filmmaking Challenge is looking for talented filmmakers aged 16-25 years to submit short films up to 3 minutes in duration that tell new stories, give a voice to interesting characters and challenge audiences to think differently about the world we all live in.

The DVMISSION 48-Hour Film Challenge is now six years old. It’s grown to be an annual extravaganza
with over 250 amateur and professional filmmakers taking part every year.

This year’s challenge will be taking place from the 14th to 16th October 2011, This includes the
giltzy + infamous Premier Night with film screening, awards ceremony and after party. The 2011
Premier will be held on Southparade Pier – Portsmouth UK.
